16.001 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Applicant Eligibility:  State and local governments, officials of law enforcement agencies, forensic laboratories.

Beneficiary Eligibility:  State and local governments, officials of law enforcement agencies, forensic laboratories.

Credentials/Documentation:  The applicant must furnish suitable credentials.

16.001 APPLICATION AND AWARD PROCESS:

Preapplication Coordination:  None. This program is excluded from coverage under E.O. 12372.

Application Procedure:  Made in the form of a letter on official letterhead; or in an emergency, by phone, to the field laboratory of the DEA or the Office of Forensic Sciences at Headquarters.

Award Procedure:  Not applicable.

Deadlines:  None.

16.001 PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

In fiscal year 1999, 7,524 State and local samples were analyzed. It is estimated that 7,452 samples will be analyzed in fiscal year 2000.
